A Call To Love

What if instead of being easily provoked to anger, we loved?

What if instead of screaming in the face of those who oppose us, we loved them instead?

What if instead of keeping silent, we voiced love instead?

What if instead of becoming violent as a result of injustice, we loved instead?

What if when there are people treated poorly due to difference, we loved them?

What if instead of watching the news in fury, we prayed for the people doing wrong, out of love?

What do I mean when I say love? I mean to show a Christlike love to those around us. Christ loved the widow, the diseased, the outcast, and those who have wronged others. Christ loved the children, the leper, and the sinner. He came and showed people love. He healed the sick, fed the hungry, and taught others of His Father. He served people out of love. Christ loved us so much, he did not want us to spend eternity apart from him. He died with the weight of ALL our sin upon him. The perfect sinless SON OF GOD died for us because he loved us. He showed us love in the ultimate act of sacrifice.

Why should we love? I am going to quote one of my favorite music artists because he worded it so perfectly. Joel Smallbone said in the epilogue of for King & country's album "Run Wild. Live Free. Love Strong" "Because you were first loved. Because without love we all perish. Because the earth and the stars can and will pass away, but love, love will always remain."

What if we all showed Christlike love? I think the world would be a very different place. A better place. There would be peace. There would be hope. There would be light. People in search of the missing piece inside themselves would find it in Christ. Lives would be forever changed and there would be true, genuine joy ringing in this world. There would be less violence and more peace. The second greatest commandment is to "love your neighbor as yourself."

Let us be the proof of God's love. Let His light shine through YOU. Whether it be serving as a volunteer, writing notes to people, drawing something as an encouragement, singing, or really anything, do it in LOVE. Use a gift God gave you to bless others. He gave it to you for a reason. Let us spread God’s love through our words and actions.

I am calling on you to fight. This is not a call to war, but a call to love. To love like God loves us.

Romans 5:8, "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. "

1 John 4:8 “Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.”
